One of the latest and most dynamic mixed-use complexes in Istanbul, the 1M sf MetroCity includes an office tower and two 26-story residential towers housing 205 apartments above a four-level shopping arcade with 136 stores. A direct link to the Levent subway station, combined with a parking facility for 2,500 vehicles, transforms the complex into a destination. Anthony Belluschi served as Principal-in-Charge of the project while with Anthony Belluschi Architects, and Dogan Tekeli & Sami Sisa served as the Architect of Record.

Shoppers enter through the spacious, skylit entry court whose warm and light-filled atmosphere establishes a leisurely pace. Featuring a unique fabric tensile roof constructed out of Teflon-coated fiberglass, the shopping arcade is gently bathed in an even glow of sunlight, while varied shopfronts create a cozy, street-like setting. Two interior courts—the Formal Rotunda Court and the Tivoli Court—provide breaks in the shopping experience. A sleek curved-glass elevator and water feature and a striking geometrical floor pattern combine to form a large sculptural element in the Rotunda Court, while a wide selection of food and entertainment options provide additional opportunities for shoppers.

The latest technologies, including an indoor mobile phone system and advanced cleaning and fire safety systems, reinforce MetroCity’s status as a prime destination in Istanbul.
