The intensive two-year redevelopment of the 170,000 sf Tabor Center in downtown Denver saw a complete overhaul of both the interior and the facade of the popular multi-story single-loaded retail center. Designed by Anthony Belluschi / OWP/P, the project expanded the facility by 20%, adding an additional 26,000 sf of retail space and street-side visibility for several new retail tenants.
Inside, the extensive renovation work included the addition of several new state-of-the-art escalators and elevators that improve circulation efficiency; the complete renovation of restrooms; new floor tiling made of imported stone and porcelain; and a completely redesigned food court with an exterior eating terrace. Artwork by Ken Ambrosini, including a 66-foot long sculpture and 10-foot tall chandelier, transform the Tabor Center into a noteworthy destination.
A stairway and corridor connection on the second level bridges the Tabor Center to an adjoining office building lobby, making the new center as much a retail destination as a place for office workers to enjoy lunch from a diverse selection of restaurants and eateries.
